Overview
Hardware sales decreased by one percent this week, but only due to the decreased sales of the 3DS. 508,863 consoles were sold this week. Week-on-week sales are up for the PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360, DS and Vita, and down for the PSP and 3DS. Year-on-year sales are down 45 percent. No platforms are up year-on-year.
Three games debuted in the top 30 this week. Metal Gear Solid Rising: Revengeance for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is the biggest debut this week. The PlayStation 3 version debuted at the top of the charts with sales of 628,198. The Xbox 360 version debuted at number four with sales of 166,556.
Software milestones this week in the top 30: Far Cry 3 (X360) passed two million units.
Worldwide Hardware

Hardware home console sales week-on-week are up for the Xbox 360, and down for the PlayStation 3, Wii and Wii U. PlayStation 3 sales are down 526 (0%) to 130,036 units sold. Xbox 360 sales are up 2,068 (2%) to 92,826 units sold. The Wii U sold 30,739 units, a decrease of 2,493 (-8%). The Wii sold 23,652 units, a decrease of 1,708 (-7%).
Handheld sales week-on-week are up for the DS and Vita, and down for the PSP, and 3DS. The 3DS sold 136,283 units, which is down 25,775 (-16%) week-on-week. The PlayStation Vita is up 3,029 (12%) to 28,265 units sold. The PSP sold 18,618 units which is down 2,256 (-11%) compared to last week. The DS is up 1,165 (6%) to 20,711 units sold. Total week on week sales are down 26,496 units (-5%) to 481,133 units.
No platforms are up year-on-year. The PlayStation 3 is down 95,341 (-42%), the Wii is down 94,940 (-80%), and the Xbox 360 is down 70,585 (-43%). The PSP is down 61,578 (-77%), the DS is down 39,823 (-66%), the Vita is down 348,120 (-92%) and the 3DS is down 62,162 (-31%). Year on year sales are down 741,810 units (-61%).

Home console hardware sales have increased for the Xbox 360 for two weeks, while PlayStation 3, Wii, and Wii U sales have decreased for one week. The PlayStation 3 has led for nine straight weeks and eight of the last 10 weeks. The Xbox 360 led the one other week.
The PlayStation 3 has a 53 percent market share for the seventh generation; the Xbox 360 has a 38 percent market share; and the Wii has a 10 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago all four home consoles are down.

Handheld hardware sales have dropped for seven weeks for the PSP, and two weeks for the 3DS. The DS has increased for two weeks and the Vita also for two weeks. The 3DS remains well above all the other handhelds, outselling them combined.
The DS has a 53 percent market share this week for the seventh generation handhelds and the PSP with 47 percent. The 3DS has an 83 percent market share for the eighth generation of handhelds, while the Vita has a 17 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago all four handhelds are down.
Worldwide Software
Three games debuted in the top 30 this week. Metal Gear Solid Rising: Revengeance for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is the biggest debut this week. The PlayStation 3 version debuted at the top of the charts with sales of 628,198. The Xbox 360 version debuted at number four with sales of 166,556. The game launched worldwide.
Crysis 3 for the Xbox 360 debuted at number two with sales of 303,963. The PlayStation 3 version debuted at number three with sales of 169,205. The PC version debuted at number five with sales of 87,005. The game launched in North America and Europe.
Magi: The Labyrinth of Beginning (3DS) debuted at number 23 with sales of 28,100. The game launched in Japan.
Here are the other games in the top 10 that are not debuts: Call of Duty: Black Ops II (X360) is at number six with sales of 82,547 units. Call of Duty: Black Ops II (PS3) is at number seven with sales of 81,062 units. Dragon Warrior VII (3DS) is at number eight with sales of 77,190. Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS) is at number nine with sales of 75,674. Aliens: Colonial Marines (X360) rounds out the top 10 with sales of 51,939.

Software home console sales week on week are up for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and down for the Wii and Wii U. The PlayStation 3 sold the most games this week with sales of2.06 million, an increase of 496,786 units (32%). The Xbox 360 sold 1.69 million games this week, an increase of 73,396 units (5%). Wii software sales are down 230,408 units (-5%) to 639,414 games sold. The Wii U sold 81,831 games, a decrease of 1,841 (-2%).
Handheld software sales are up for the PSP, and down for the DS, 3DS, and Vita. The 3DS sold 559,038 games, which is down 109,484 units (-16%). The DS sold 372,149 games, a decrease of 4,096 units (-1%) week on week. PSP game sales are up 6,322 units (5%) to 144,320 games sold. The Vita sold 100,594 games, a decrease of 11,989 (-11%). Total combined software is up 418,686 units (8%) week-on-week to 5.65 million.
Year on year software totals are up for the PlayStation 3 and 3DS, and down for everything else. The PlayStation 3 is up 96,449 units (5%), the Wii is down 641,388 units (-50%) and the Xbox 360 is down 65,892 units (-4%). The DS is down 124,749 units (-25%), the PSP is down 283,248 units (-66%), the 3DS is up 8,858 units (2%), and the Vita is down 471,793 units (-82%). Total combined software is down 1.40 million units units (-20%) games sold year on year.

Home console software sales have increased for four weeks for the Xbox 360, one week for the PlayStation 3, and are down one week for the Wii and Wii U. The PlayStation 3 has led for one straight week and five of the last 10 weeks. The Xbox 360 led for the other five week

The 3DS sold the most software for a handheld for the tenth straight week. The 3DS and DS have remained above their rivals, the Vita and PSP respectively. The 3DS outsold the Vita by nearly six times and the DS outsold the PSP by nearly three times.
The DS has a 72 percent market share for the current generation handhelds and the PSP has a 28 percent market share. The 3DS has an 85 percent market share for the next generation handhelds, while the Vita has a 15 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago all four handhelds are down.
