Other than for the PSP, hardware sales have increased across the board. Overall week on week hardware sales are up 30 percent. The 3DS is the only platform to be up year-on-year. Overall hardware sales are down 22 percent year-on-year.
Four games debuted in the top 30 this week. Halo 4 (X360) has debuted at the top with sales of 3,798,209. Software milestones this week in the top 30: Halo 4 (X360) passed three million sold; and Assassin’s Creed III (X360) passed the two million mark.
Hardware home console sales week on week are up across the board. PlayStation 3 sales are up 18,096 (6%) to 316,495 units sold. Xbox 360 sales are up 167,359 (65%) to 425,815 units sold. The Wii sold 89,852 units, which is up 14,642 (19%).
Handheld sales are up for the DS, 3DS and Vita, and down for the PSP. The 3DS sold 412,683 units, which is up 111,105 (37%) week on week. The PlayStation Vita is up 1,005 (2%) to 60,331 units sold. The DS is up 9,325 (20%) to 56,872 units sold. The PSP sold 30,743 units which is down 2,343 (-7%) compared to last week. Total week on week sales are up 319,189 (30%) to 1,392,791.
The 3DS is the only platform to be up year-over-year. The PlayStation 3 is down 62,904 (-17%), the Wii is down 186,888 (-68%), and the Xbox 360 is down 130,162 (-23%). The PSP is down 77,019 (-71%), the DS is down 78,190 (-58%) and the 3DS is up 86,909 (27%). Year on year sales are down 387,923 (-22%).
The Xbox 360 for the first time all year outsold the PlayStation 3, to become the bestselling platform. This is mainly due to the release of Halo 4, as well as the beginning of the holiday period. The Xbox 360 has a 51 percent market share; the PlayStation 3 has a 38 percent market share; and the Wii has a 11 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago all three home consoles are up.
3DS hardware remains well above its rival, the PlayStation Vita, outselling it by nearly 7 to 1. The 3DS has outsold its predecessor, the DS, by more than 7 to 1. The PlayStation Vita has doubled the sales of the PSP. The DS has a 65 percent market share this week for the current generation handhelds and the PSP has a 35 percent. The 3DS has an 87 percent market share for the next generation of handhelds, while the Vita has a 12 percent market share. Compared with ten weeks ago all four handhelds are up.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS) debuted at number two with sales of 641,441. The Game launched in Japan.
LittleBigPlanet Karting (PS3) debuted at number 12 with sales of 84,951. The game launched in North America and Europe.
Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires (PS3) debuted at number 18 with sales of 69,588. The game launched in Japan.
Here are the other games in the top 10 that are not debuts: Assassin’s Creed III (PS3) is at number three with sales of 471,625. Assassin’s Creed III (X360) is at number four with sales of 419,492. Just Dance 4 (Wii) is at number five with sales of 171,977.
