Take-Two: PS4 and Xbox One Won’t Hurt Grand Theft Auto V Sales

Grand Theft Auto V, the latest title in Take-Two’s biggest franchise, is set to launch on September 17 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. This is just weeks before the release of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick is not worried that the next generation consoles will hurt the sales of the game.

“Grand Theft Auto V is the most highly anticipated release of our biggest franchise,” said Zelnick speaking with MCVUK.

“It features the largest, most dynamic and most diverse open world Rockstar Games has yet created,” he added. “The installed base of current generation consoles is estimated to be in excess of 120 million, and most of those consumers have been waiting for Grand Theft Auto V for years.”

“Therefore, we expect there to be enormous consumer demand for Grand Theft Auto V regardless of when the next-generation consoles are released,” he concluded.

Grand Theft Auto V was announced on October 25, 2011.
