Sony has announced it will be closing its Liverpool development studio and that it plans on relocating staff to other studios. Sony however does plan to keep the Xdev team, the localization team, and the finance group untouched.
“It has been decided that Liverpool Studio should be closed,” said PlayStation Europe in a statement to CVG. “Liverpool Studio has been an important part of SCE Worldwide Studios since the outset of PlayStation, and have contributed greatly to PlayStation over the years.”Everyone connected with Liverpool Studio, past and present, can be very proud of their achievement.”
This is the third time Sony Liverpool has been affected in the last couple of years. Most recently just last March in which part of the team was laid off.
