PlayStation Vita sales have been well below expectations, but sales have increased nearly six fold since the price was cut on February 28. Sales figures for the week ending March 4 are in and the PlayStation Vita sold 60,897 units. This is up from just 11,789 units sold the prior week.
Despite the huge increase in sales it was still outsold by its main rival, the 3DS, which sold 77,572 units. Sales will decrease in the coming weeks, however it should stabilize above what it was selling before the price was cut. The PlayStation Vita was averaging just 8,000 units sold per week.
Sony cut the price in Japan to 19,980 Yen for the 3G and WiFi models.
